THE HISTORY

Social Hall is one of the few remaining Federal period residences in downtown Charlottesville. Located on the northwest corner of East Jefferson and 2nd Streets, it commands a prominent rise and overlooks much of residential and commercial downtown. Despite a comprehensive modern updating of the structure, Social Hall retains a high degree of architectural integrity with much of its original exterior remarkably intact.
